Execution of Mohammad Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh on Charges of Collaboration with Israel -By Keyvan Javid- 23 June 2025

The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced on the morning of Monday, 2nd Tir (22nd June), the execution of Mohammad Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh, who had been imprisoned since Azar 1402 (December 2023), on charges of “intelligence cooperation in favour of Israel.”

He had previously been accused of “insulting Islamic sanctities and collaborating with Israel.” His final trial session was held in late Shahrivar 1403 (September 2024) at Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati. A death sentence was subsequently issued.

It is self-evident that an intelligence operative for Mossad would not openly engage in “insulting sanctities” or leave traces of opposition to the regime on social media.

The execution of Mohammad Amin is a desperate and blind act by a regime that has lost a long line of its military commanders and now seeks to compensate for this disgraceful and significant defeat by exacting revenge on the Iranian people through a series of executions. These executions, in line with the regime’s hostility towards the people, only strengthen our resolve—more than ever—to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

We fight in memory of this crime and all the crimes committed to this day.

At this very juncture—when the Islamic Republic finds itself in the depths of misery and impotence—we must not allow it to carry out executions of our loved ones. Every execution, whether political or non-political, under any pretext, must mobilise all opponents of the Islamic Republic, both inside and outside Iran. We must strike all diplomatic and terrorist-affiliated centres of the regime worldwide, and make the world an unsafe place for the Islamic Republic’s agents of terror.

Western governments must come out of their shells and take firm action against these executions and confront the Islamic Republic. This level of inaction from states and organisations is utterly unacceptable under any excuse or pretext. Every execution must be turned into an opportunity to pursue the closure of the regime’s embassies with greater urgency.
