Regime’s Crime in Hamedan Met with Powerful Protest- Statement by the Worker-communist Party of Iran-4 July 2025

PDF-English Journal-4 July 2025-No16

The funerals of Mohammad-Mehdi Aboee and Alireza Karbasi, two young off-road drivers shot dead by regime thugs in Hamedan, turned into a mass protest against the Islamic Republic.

On Tuesday, 1st of July, Basij forces opened fire on a vehicle carrying three young men. Aboee and Karbasi were killed. The third, severely wounded, was taken to hospital.

Men and women gathered in large numbers at the funerals, transforming the ceremony into a powerful display of anger. Chants of “Death to the oppressor,” “Our enemy is right here, they lie it’s America,” and “I’ll kill, I’ll kill, whoever killed my brother” rang out in fury at the regime and its Basij enforcers. Another key slogan was: “Trial not execution is our undeniable right,” expressing the public’s awareness of the regime’s capacity for yet more state-sanctioned murder.

The Worker-Communist Party of Iran extends its deep solidarity to the families of the slain and to the people of Hamedan. We unequivocally condemn the Islamic Republic’s criminal actions. This atrocity must be met with a wave of protest across society. The Party calls on activists, grassroots organisations, and all free-thinking individuals to demand justice. The perpetrators—those who ordered and carried out the killings—must be named, tried, and punished. The regime’s checkpoint system across the country must be dismantled.
