In recent decades, the Islamic Republic has rarely recorded such a devastating and catastrophic blow. In a meticulously planned and executed Israeli operation, within just a few hours, several of the regime’s most senior military commanders were killed. Khamenei and his scavenging court retreated in panic to underground bunkers, shaken by the extent of the enemy’s penetration into their own ranks.
This lightning strike jolted the regime to its core and sparked a surge of hope across the country. Despite the war’s miseries, people saw every missile, every bomb, and each fallen military officer or nuclear “scientist” as a cause for celebration. In the dark of night, as the sky briefly flared with the light of explosions, voices rang out: “Death to Khamenei.”
And yet, as we had said and written before, it was clear that the regime would not fall under these bombings. The Israeli government consistently underlined that its objective was not to kill Khamenei or dismantle the regime, but to put an end to the Islamic Republic’s nuclear programme.
So where do we now stand?
That same nuclear project no longer poses a near-term threat to the West or Israel—perhaps never again. Every time the regime moves to revive it, Israeli warplanes are ready to strike anew. The Islamic Republic cannot even protect the Supreme Leader’s own compound, let alone defend its airspace or safeguard the lives of its senior leadership.
Still, its propaganda continues unabated, declaring a “victory” divorced from reality. But the people’s fight—for life, dignity and well-being—again takes precedence over all else. This society has seen the regime’s vulnerability and knows its weaknesses intimately. A ceasefire with Israel is merely the prelude to the people’s unrelenting struggle against the Islamic Republic. The arsenal of resistance is intact. In the coming weeks and months, the roar of revolt will once again fill Iran’s skies with light. We sound the alarm.
