Iranian media, quoting the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, reported that Edris Ali, Azad Shojaei, and Rasoul Ahmad Rasoul were executed this morning in Urmia prison, accused of what these outlets have called “espionage” on behalf of Israel. The judiciary had also announced on Monday morning the execution of Mohammad Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh.
Following Trump’s “ceasefire” declaration—“Now China can buy oil from Iran”—no government in Europe took action against these executions carried out on charges of espionage. In fact, not only was there no response, a deadly silence engulfed everyone.
Why is that? The answer is plain to see. They now want to prop up the Islamic Republic—humiliated and dealt fatal blows in recent weeks—and guide it back to the negotiating table. This message is being sent under cover of darkness: the regime must submit to greater compromise, cease uranium enrichment entirely, and in return, states including the US will be willing to turn a blind eye to the Islamic Republic’s domestic atrocities.
Yet the Islamic Republic cannot—just as it never could—bury its head in the sand in the face of the people’s enormous struggle for its overthrow. The enemy of the people sees the defiant resolve behind their eyes. Nor will Western governments be able to ignore these crimes against humanity or pretend not to see.
We, the people, along with all organisations, networks, and millions of Iranians abroad, will answer this silence from world governments with our cries of resistance.
We will not allow this regime to hang our loved ones under the charge of espionage. Society must—and can—rise up against this Islamic crime. These days, it is an urgent duty for every individual to make their voice louder—just as it was in the 1980s, when the regime murdered tens of thousands.
The Islamic Republic is floundering in the depths of its own disgrace. Let us organise more broadly than ever against the executions.
