Return to Normal or the Next Uprising?-By Journal-29 June 2025

One citizen on social media remarked, “The war is over, and we’re back to normal—meaning blackouts, and cuts to water and gas.”

The Islamic Republic wants the illusion of ongoing war. Now it’s time for staged arrests of “Mossad spies” and a manufactured climate of national emergency. But this war dragged the regime so deep into humiliation that it can no longer hold its head up among allies or adversaries.

Across the country, Iran’s air defences still go off at night—attempting to demonstrate control. But these are the same systems that sat idle during the 12-day war as Israeli jets ruled the skies.

This regime cannot even provide electricity, gas, or water. These failures are not deliberate policies—they’re signs of a collapsing system. The economic crisis is already unprecedented, and in the wake of this military disgrace, it will worsen exponentially. Soon, political collapse may follow. Even within the regime, a realignment is brewing—one that may move to bypass Khamenei entirely.

This isn’t limited to so-called “reformists.” Even Khamenei’s closest allies now see the end approaching. Their last hope might be a deal with the West—an attempt to slow the regime’s fall from the outside.

These are only hypotheses, but they reflect the Islamic Republic’s fragile position. Surging public disgust, combined with the regime’s regional and international isolation, could spark an internal collapse.

Let’s return to that citizen’s remark: a war-torn country reduced again to power and water outages. The next uprising may come sooner than expected—and with greater organisation, clarity, and purpose. It will need a political choice. A revolutionary party committed to freedom and equality. A party like the Worker-Communist Party of Iran.
