Ali Larijani, advisor to Khamenei, said on Friday, the day of Israel’s attack, someone called him and warned: “You have 12 hours to leave Iran or get away from Tehran, or you’ll meet the same fate as Bagheri and Rashid.”
Some regime insiders now claim they received such calls, maybe to impress the Supreme Leader. But these confessions only further humiliate the remaining regime elite and delight the people.
One might ask: Did the Islamic Republic’s intelligence services call up Israeli officials to warn them in return? Of course not.
It’s long known that senior regime figures have contingency plans to flee with their stolen wealth. They’re already scoping out hiding places. But no need to speculate. Wherever they run, they won’t get far. After the regime’s downfall, they’ll be brought back to Iran for the fairest and most humane trials ever witnessed.
The regime flashes its rusted sword to scare people, passing more repressive laws. But at the same time, top officials admit they’ve received ultimatums to leave. This absurd theatre makes one truth clear: this regime is on its last legs.
One promise to the Larijanis and their ilk: In the free and equal society we’ll build after your fall, you’ll serve your sentences in the most humane way imaginable.
