دو هفتۀ تمام است که جمهوری فاشیست اسلامی موج بی‌سابقه‌ای از یک یورش تمام‌عیار ضدبشری را علیه چند میلیون مهاجر افغانستانی مقیم ایران شروع کرده است.

A Holocaust Against Afghan Migrants in Iran—and the Deafening Silence of International Media- Journal-7 July 2025

PDF-English Journal-7 July 2025-No18

For two consecutive weeks, the fascist Islamic Republic has unleashed an unprecedented, full-scale assault on the several million Afghan migrants residing in Iran. Reports indicate that more than 450,000 Afghans have been deported back to Afghanistan over the past two months. The regime has detained many of these hard-working people, confining them in squalid camps devoid of food, water, and basic sanitation—subjecting them to inhumane conditions. These are migrants who have long labored in Iran under total disenfranchisement and poverty, only to be tortured and deported whenever the Islamic regime sees fit—deported back to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

To date, reports confirm that at least 13 of these desperate souls have died of thirst in the desert during their forced expulsion.

Throughout these weeks, the global mainstream media has remained almost entirely silent. A single article, published on July 7 by The Guardian, briefly mentioned this crime, but without a single word condemning the Islamic regime in Iran. Other international outlets have reported on the situation sporadically, but none has truly captured the full scale and horror of the atrocities being committed.

There is no discussion of the Islamic Republic’s fascism in international media. Why isn’t this crime dominating the world’s headlines? Why do trivial stories—like Trump kissing Melania or a celebrity’s outfit—explode across news cycles, while the acts of state-sponsored crimes against humanity, against Afghan refugees are relegated to the margins?

Meanwhile, ordinary Iranians in the country’s southern regions have organized aid efforts for their impoverished Afghan neighbors. They’ve delivered food and water through locked gates of detention camps and circulated petitions condemning the government’s actions. This solidarity is commendable—but it must expand further.

Shamefully, Iranian chauvinists and monarchist nationalists have remained conspicuously silent—aligning themselves with the regime’s anti-Afghan policies.

We must raise our voices loud enough for the world to hear: these are our brothers and sisters. We share the same race—the human race. Let us stand together, amplify this injustice, and pressure international media to reflect the pain and suffering of these people. Shame on the governments and media outlets whose silence enables these crimes.
