Reports and images emerging from various cities, especially Tehran, show that after the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ movement, young people are acting more freely in their clothing and leisure.

If someone says, “See, even the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising could not topple the Islamic Republic,” we can answer with just one example of its profound impact: this movement has torn such a rift in the regime’s structure that no cement can mend it.

Even this one report reflects a profound social rupture, showing that Iranian society is ploughing up the hardened ground to sow the seeds of freedom and humanity, whose harvest will be equality and prosperity.

Greater freedom in clothing and social behaviour is a powerful weapon against the Islamic Republic. It is a weapon that, in time, will sweep away the regime’s armed forces from the streets. This is just one example of how, culturally, society has already defeated the regime. Other examples show Iranian society moving towards higher human and social aspirations, refusing to settle for less, and refusing to confine itself to narrow nationalist or parochial frames. Recall how Sarina, a teenage girl, spoke passionately about equality for all humanity. The Sarinas of this revolution are so numerous that, in time, they will raise the banner of a free and humane society over city squares, factories, and Iran’s political arena.

Through the struggle for freedom of dress in Iran, one can glimpse far greater and more magnificent vistas. In opposition to the Islamic Republic’s reactionary lifestyle, society is choosing the modern human way of life with all its achievements.
