During a recent dinner with Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump stated that three key nuclear targets in Iran had been completely destroyed in the latest American strikes. Trump added he would consider lifting crippling sanctions at the right moment—if the Islamic Republic chooses a peaceful path.
Netanyahu declared: “Israel knows the approximate location of buried uranium stockpiles,” warning that joint Israeli-American strikes on nuclear facilities could be repeated.
The devastating blows struck over 12 days have effectively divided the Islamic Republic’s history into before and after. More disgraced than ever, the regime can no longer make grandiose claims. Yet the string of defeats began not with these bombings, but with the neutralisation of Hezbollah, the sidelining of Hamas, and the slow collapse of the Assad regime. The assassination of key Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders has further weakened Tehran.
The Israeli and US strikes have not gone unnoticed by the Iranian public. These events are interpreted not as strength, but as signs of deeper vulnerability. The IRGC may issue commands reminiscent of the 1980s, threatening mass repression—but the regime’s gunpowder is clearly damp.
Tehran knows that conceding on its nuclear ambitions creates space for the people to act with more force. When global powers signal the end of hostilities and offer Tehran an out, the regime attempts to regroup for domestic suppression. But the people’s struggle to overthrow this criminal order continues unabated.
This is a regime of murder, theft, and manufactured poverty. It must fall. The collapse of the nuclear programme is merely one trench lost. The ultimate goal remains the destruction of the Islamic Republic—by the hands of the Iranian people. There is no escape for this regime.
