A Plea to Israel to Assassinate Pezeshkian -Keyvan Javid-11 July 2025

PDF-English Journal-11 July 2025-No21

Reza Asheri, a member of Rasht City Council, recently posted a photo of Masoud Pezeshkian on Instagram and “begged” Israel to “do us the favour” of elevating Mr Pezeshkian to “martyrdom,” just as they had done with Ebrahim Raisi.

This story is not trivial. It lays bare the internal state of the Islamic regime and the outsized role that Israel now plays in its internal dynamics. In the wake of the recent war, the Islamic Republic has ramped up its propaganda, seeking to intimidate the public and invoke memories of the mass executions of the 1980s. We’ve repeatedly emphasised that today’s regime lacks the cohesion and strength to replicate that era.

After being summoned by the Gilan Province Prosecutor on charges of “public agitation,” Asheri dismissed his request to Israel as satire. But we know full well that death wishes—and even actual attempts on each other’s lives—are nothing new within the ruling establishment. This internal power struggle is intensifying as the regime unravels from within.

This internal decay is no secret to the Iranian people. As state threats grow more shrill, public opposition to the regime’s political and cultural repression becomes more overt and defiant.

Now is the time to seize upon the regime’s weakness. It is the moment to create thousands of local networks and protest collectives. While many workers, teachers, pensioners, students, and other civil networks are already active, the sheer scale of public anger demands far more. The Islamic Republic cannot be overthrown through individual acts of defiance; collective struggle is the key.

People often ask: how do we get rid of this regime? The first step is to find others who share your vision of a better, more humane life—those who know this social disaster is rooted in the Islamic Republic—and start a fighting collective. You can count on the support of the Worker-Communist Party of Iran.
