A surge of reports about the imminent execution of three Arab political prisoners has dominated social media and satellite TV channels. Mai Sato, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, has warned that Ali Mojadam, Moein Khanafri, and Mohammadreza Moghadam are facing execution on charges of “waging war against God,” based on confessions extracted under torture.
Executions have long been one of the Islamic Republic’s primary tools of repression—a government that knows no other means of survival. To avoid international condemnation, the regime often executes people convicted of drug offences or non-political crimes. Yet political executions remain a crucial strategy for suppressing social uprisings and punishing those fighting to bring down the regime.
The anti-execution movement is already active both inside and outside Iran. Dozens of imprisoned political activists and prominent social figures are campaigning against the death penalty. However, given the staggering number of executions—nearly 700 by mid-2025, including several for alleged ties to Mossad—we must increase public pressure.
To make our struggle more effective, we must amplify street protests across Iranian and global cities and flood social media with the names and photos of these three Arab prisoners and five others from Kurdistan who face imminent death. Demand the immediate halt to their executions.
Force international governments and institutions to act against these death sentences through mass outreach and advocacy. Let “No to Execution” become the rallying cry of a broader social movement to bring down the Islamic Republic.
