In Kazeroon, protesters shouted: “Water, electricity, life—our legitimate rights.” The slogan flooded social media on Thursday, lifting many spirits. Not because these rights had been won, but because the chant carried a fresh breeze of hope from the south, one that revolutionary weather forecasts predict will spread nationwide.

The people are not demanding merely that electricity return or dried rivers flow again, to restore the past. They are not asking that their emptier tables be replenished to last year’s or ten years ago’s level, in exchange for silence. They are not asking for yesterday’s slightly better conditions.

They are saying: a human life is our legitimate right. That means the best life humanity has yet achieved—and beyond. They demand freedom beyond what has so far existed: liberation from all dictators, from all chains on expression, belief, and social life. They reject religious, intellectual, or cultural backwardness.

They are not content with the limited welfare available in some parts of the world. Not scraps of health insurance, not token unemployment benefits. They claim life itself, with all the best possibilities humanity can provide, as their right.

To win it, they must fight better, more united, more nationwide. That is why Kazeroon’s stand matters so much. It set an example.

Let the reformists beat their hollow drums. Society has chosen its realistic path: revolution for freedom.
