The Guardian recently reported: “Analysts say that following US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities and, earlier, the killing of Qassem Soleimani, Tehran’s distrust of Washington is at its highest level, with the risk of renewed military confrontation.”
Amid this, Kamal Kharrazi, head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, said that while Tehran is open to talks with the US, the Revolutionary Guards’ regional activities and missile programme are “non-negotiable”.
Roughly four months after the US strikes on Natanz and Fordow, Donald Trump warned Tehran that any move toward building a nuclear weapon would invite further attacks. The Islamic Republic now finds itself besieged by enemies large and small.
Such is the wretched state of a regime that once boasted of its reach across “six regional countries” and commanded tens of thousands of armed militants – now watching its Hezbollah crippled and even its bombast against Israel fall silent. The Islamic Republic is a dying body pretending that its convulsions are signs of vigour.
Any perceptive analyst must grasp this simple fact: the regime’s collapse began not abroad, but within Iran itself, driven by its own people. The uprising of 2022 once again laid this bare before the world. Though the murderous regime crushed protests with savage violence, it inherited a society seething with rebellion.
If Iran were truly under the regime’s control, neither the US nor Israel would have dared such large-scale attacks on its nuclear sites. The rulers’ threats and posturing are empty air. Given the regime’s desperate condition, more military strikes, sanctions, and other crippling blows are foreseeable. What matters is that the Iranian people will seize every chance to hasten its fall. The Islamic Republic must be overthrown—that is the will of the people. To accelerate its destruction, we must unite politically, decisively, and organise under a revolutionary party.
